Distribución, accesibilidad y equidad territorial de las áreas verdes urbanas en el Distrito Metropolitano de Quito
By: Jonathan Stalin Puente Amán, Diego Francisco Orbe Ornaza, Esthela Elizabeth Salazar Proaño, Paulina Elizabeth Cubillo Betancourt, Izar Sinde Gonzalez.

Green areas, in a city like Quito, are very important for its inhabitants since these spaces provide urban, environmental and landscape services. This study categorizes the urban green space of the city and proposes a technical, detailed and analytical standardization of these spaces considering them as sites that improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the city and that are vital for the sustainable development of the city. The study was carried out as part of the final project of Jonathan Puente, an engineering student in geospatial technologies at ESPE.

Estudio de impacto en la movilidad y calidad de arbolado urbano en el polígono del proyecto APPA
By: Paulina Cubillo Betancourt, Sheika Aragundi, Pamela Mendieta, Diego Francisco Orbe.

The College of Architects of Ecuador - Pichincha, in its Comprehensive Neighborhood Improvement Program, has made a proposal that promotes sustainable urban development, sustainable mobility and nature-based solutions, This proposal has been developed between the Urban Information Center of Quito, CIUQ, and the AAPA Project, Accessible Sidewalks Tree Plan. The AAPA Project has its pilot in the Urban Laboratory of Iñaquito of the Municipality of the Metropolitan District of Quito, which is located in the sector of Iñaquito, in the area formed between the avenues Naciones Unidas, Amazonas, Atahualpa and 10 de Agosto.

In order to analyze the baseline of vehicular traffic and pedestrian circulation in the area where the AAPA project is developed, as well as to evaluate the environmental and ecological functionality of urban trees in the study area, the CIUQ technical team carried out two studies: The first one measured the flow of vehicular circulation and pedestrian concentration in the study area to establish pedestrian and vehicular circulation scenarios generated from of the closure of Ignacio San María Street. its purpose was to demonstrate the possibility of implementing a boulevard and transform vehicular use into a tree-lined pedestrian use. The second study diagnoses the state of urban trees in the polygon that comprises the AAPA project and evaluates the environmental and ecological functionality of the species in the area and recommends measures to improve the environmental and ecological performance of the trees on the sidewalk and parterre.
